Synergist Boston | Investing in Art 101

April 2026 | Synergist Boston | Investing in Art 101
Register here

Join Synergist Boston and the Copley Society of Art for a discussion exploring how to invest in and collect art thoughtfully and strategically on Thursday, April 30th at 6pm ET. In-person location to be provided post-registration.

What art should I buy and how do I go about acquiring it? What questions can or should I ask throughout the process? How do I ensure that my collection retains as much secondary market value as possible? Is art really a good investment?

Geared toward collectors at any stage of their journey who want to engage more intentionally with the visual arts, this discussion aims to cast a light on what many find to be an intimidating and opaque experience. We’ll explore how to develop confidence in one's personal taste, how to identify reputable dealers and other market experts, what to ask before acquiring a work, and the kinds of thoughtful decisions that can help preserve value over time -- all without losing sight of the role that curiosity, enjoyment, and community play in the overall experience.

Minerva Pinto is an attorney with over a decade of legal experience in and around the visual art world. She recently joined Holland & Knight LLP's Private Wealth Services Group and Art Law Team, where she provides counsel to collectors, auction houses, galleries, museums, and artists as they navigate the complexities of the global art market. Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Minerva spent nearly eight years on various tax and estate planning teams at Goldman Sachs, where she specialized in the responsible stewardship of art, collectibles, and other forms of cultural property. Passionate about supporting an equitable and sustainable art market on both a local and global scale, Minerva is active in a number of trade and nonprofit organizations in Boston and beyond.
